| Zeppsters Go 3-2 In New Albany |

The Zeppsters went 3-2 over the weekend in the New Albany Invitational. With Jason Betts already out for the year, we were also missing regulars Steve Polio, Matt Timbario, and Cuz Schaber. Luckily, we were able to pick up Problem Drinker members Chris Henon, Teddy Dahlman, and Richie Dahlman, as the Drinkers won't be sanctioning in USSSA this year. Steve Lun and Jimmy Gross also provided some help during the weekend, as we looked to get some games in before taking a 2-week break.
1st Game - No Limit: After putting up 6 runs in the 1st inning, we only scored 3 runs in the next 5 innings in typical Zeppster fashion. Down 13-9 going into the 7th inning, we scored 4 to tie it. And down 14-13 heading into the bottom of the 8th, Teddy Dahlman walked it off with a 2-out, 2-run double.
2nd Game - Dizzy Roosters: With both teams playing C and primarily USSSA, this is sure to be a recurring matchup in every tournament. This one was ugly from the beginning, as we got embarrassed 21-7.
3rd Game - Toxic Skeeters: We led early in this one, using 5-run innings in both the 3rd and 5th, as we won 12-8.
4th Game - Affliction Softball: We scored in all 4 innings of this game, and won in a run-rule, 15-5.
5th Game - Team Evansville: In a rematch from the Bash For Cash, we took the first meeting 12-11. This game was another close one, but we came up on the losing end this time. Leading most of the game, our defense failed late, but we still led 10-7 heading into the bottom of the 7th. Team Evansville came up with some clutch hits, and won 11-10.
We'll have the next 2 weekends off. Derby is sure to provide some good stories and pictures. With Matt Hancock and Cuz Schaber in between jobs and off this week, it's going to be a wild one! |
